THE DIANE LINKLETTER STORY
Dreamland, 1969, 10 minutes
Starring David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce, Divine
A dramatization of the tragic suicide of Art Linkletter's daughter, Diane, played by Divine. What is particularly distasteful is that this project was filmed the day after Diane fell to her death out an open window, supposedly under the influence of LSD. Diane's death was exploited by her own parents as an anti-drug message across the country, and as a sign our declining culture.
This short was never released theatrically, but has screened occasionally as part of Waters film retrospectives. It was also bootlegged on home video throughout the 80s and 90s.
